About Us
Heather graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 1980 after which she acquired a diversity of experience including working in many regional locations in Australia & in the United Kingdom ranging from traditional Optometry to Occupational Health & Safety in the mines to Indigenous Community Health with the National Trachoma Scheme.
Heather & her family purchased a tropical fruit farm locally at Kandanga in 1995. Two years later she commenced practice in Cooroy, initially part-time, but as Cooroy continued to grow, so has the practice. To help meet this increasing need, in late 2007 Heather invited another Sunshine Coast optometrist, Jennifer Currie, to join her as a partner.
Heather has a passion for behavioural optometry. She is a founding member of the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists ( ACBO) & a long-time member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development ( COVD). As such, a large part of her practice has been in the specialised area of paediatric vision care including the assessment & treatment of visually-related learning problems & binocular vision function.
